Eagles' 'Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975' Becomes First Album Certified Quadruple Diamond For 40 Million + Sales

Eagles start 2026 making history by becoming the first band to earn Quadruple Diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of more than 40 million units of Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975, which remains the best-selling album of all time in the U.S. Additionally, the band’s album, Hotel California, has been re-certified 28x Platinum by the RIAA, scoring the third best-selling album of all time.

Eagles will continue to make history in March when they set the record for the longest-running Sphere residency after a 12-show run begins today (Friday, January 23).

Before it was certified multi-Diamond, Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975 was the first album ever to be certified Platinum by the RIAA. In 1976, the album spent five weeks at #1, thanks to songs like “Witchy Woman,” “Already Gone,” and “The Best Of My Love.” Since its debut, the collection has logged more than 500 nonconsecutive weeks on the albums chart, was added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry in 2017, and was also named the best-selling album of the century in 1999. The unprecedented and historic certification arrives ahead of 50th anniversaries of both albums in 2026.

Some additional facts to highlight the significance of the milestone:

  • Eagles receive the first-ever RIAA 40,000,000 Platinum plaque, measuring 59 inches high and 48 inches wide.
  • If 40 million vinyl records were laid side by side, it would equal 7575 miles, which is the approximate distance from Los Angeles to Cairo, Egypt.
  • The 40 million certification is roughly one-eighth of the current U.S. population and more than the entire population of the band’s home state of California.

On the eve of the 50th Anniversary of Their Greatest Hits on February 17, a crystal-clear 180-gram vinyl edition of the album will be released exclusively at Eagles.com. Pre-orders are available now.

Drawing from the band’s first four studio albums — Eagles (1972), Desperado (1973), On the Border (1974), and One of These Nights (1975) — Their Greatest Hits captures the strengths that defined their early years, from the tight harmonies of “Lyin’ Eyes” to the country-rock drive of “Take It Easy” and the evocative songwriting of “Desperado.” Sequenced more like a studio album than a conventional retrospective, the collection has continued to resonate across generations as both an introduction to the band and a distillation of the songs that shaped their first era.

Eagles — Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — are poised to set the record for longest-running Sphere residency with a 12-show run that begins Friday, January 23. Since opening on September 20, 2024, Eagles – Live In Concert At Sphere has drawn more than 700,000 fans across 44 sold-out performances, offering a one-of-a-kind immersive concert experience that provides the ultimate connection to the band’s legendary catalog.

The 40x Platinum plaque (nearly 5 feet by 4 feet) will be on display at the Third Encore, Eagles' immersive fan experience at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, conveniently located in The Summit Showroom at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas just off Restaurant Row. Admission is free and open to the public on Thursday, 11 AM – 7 PM / Friday-Saturday: 11 AM - 8:00 PM / Sunday: 11 AM – 4 PM for the remaining 2026 Sphere show weekends.  In addition to the plaque, the Third Encore features the Troubadour replica, the ‘Hotel California’ immersive experience, memorabilia, merch store, and more. For more information, visit Eagles: Third Encore.

In the fall of 1971, Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style, blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go on to become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time. In today’s faddish, fractured rock landscape,  Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons. Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums, and topped the singles chart five times. They earned six GRAMMY® Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

Def Leppard Release New Single, Kick Off Las Vegas Residency On February 3

Def Leppard have released a new single called “Rejoice.” The track comes ahead of the band’s to Las Vegas for their Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency that kicks off February 3.

“Rejoice” is available via UMe now on all streaming platforms. Watch the official lyric video below.

On the creation of the song, lead singer Joe Elliott shares: “This song’s been an amazing journey from concept to conclusion. I said to Phil [Collen] one day, ‘I’ve got this idea for a lyric where the narrator is at absolute rock bottom and wants to rise up to a higher level. Do you have a musical piece that might match with that?’ And he said, ‘As it happens, yes I do.’”

Guitarist Phil Collen adds: “I had this riff, this idea for a song a while ago actually, so when Joe came to me I created this drum loop based with a tribal sound and it fit perfectly with this other arrangement I had. I sent it to Joe and it was like magic – he sang straight over the top of it. And that’s how the song was formed. Then we gave it to Ronan [McHugh] who’d done a proper drum loop with different sounds. It all started gelling and just sounded like a powerful chant. We love it. It’s hard rock for us. It’s got a bit more of an ‘oomph’ than stuff we’ve been doing for a while. It’s kind of magical.”

Fans can expect to hear “Rejoice” live alongside classics from Def Leppard’s catalog of hits at their Las Vegas residency. Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency runs through February 28, 2026 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. These new shows follow the band’s sold-out residency successes in 2019 and 2013. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit ticketmaster.com/defleppard.

Rush's 'Grace Under Pressure' Remixed & Expanded For March Reissue

UMe/Mercury and Anthem Records label groups continue the comprehensive Rush albums expanded reissue series with the arrival of new Super Deluxe Editions of the band’s 1984 release, Grace Under Pressure, an album that saw the trio shifting gears to construct eight technology-driven tracks that were forward driving compositions from their previous works.

Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe Edition will be available in five distinct configurations, including the (1) Super Deluxe Edition 4-CD + Blu-ray, (2) Super Deluxe Edition 5-LP + Blu-ray, (3) Super Deluxe Digital Edition, (4) Dolby Atmos Digital Edition, and (5) Grace Under Pressure Tour: Live in Toronto 1984 at video DSPs.

Grace Under Pressure, Rush’s 10th studio album, was originally released in April 1984, and it features some key sonic-template modifications resulting from the band’s decision to further evolve its sound by enlisting a new producer after a successful decade of working with Terry Brown behind the board. The eight songs comprising Grace Under Pressure build from where September 1982’s Signals left off by fully embracing the tech and temper of the times while still remaining true to the band’s knack for blending progressive roots with radio-welcome song arrangements. Grace Under Pressure was co-produced by Rush with Peter Henderson and engineered by Paul Northfield with assistance from Frank Opolko and Robert Di Giola. It was the fourth in a series of Rush recording sessions ultimately held at Le Studio in Morin-Heights, Quebec. Rush’s instinctive recording process at Le Studio had been DNA-infused during sessions held there for the aforementioned Signals, in addition to February 1981’s Moving Pictures and January 1980’s Permanent Waves.

The limited-edition version of the Super Deluxe Edition includes four CDs, one Blu-ray, and a 52-page hardcover book. CD1 features the album’s original 1984 stereo mix newly remastered from the original analog stereo master tapes by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios. Although Grace Under Pressure was the first Rush studio album not produced by Terry Brown after a decade long healthy working relationship, the second CD now features Brown’s brand-new stereo mix of the album, as created from the original studio album’s analog multitracks.

To get the ball rolling, Brown reached out directly to surviving bandmembers Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee. Regarding his involvement, Brown confirmed that he “suggested it to Alex and Ged by saying to them, ‘Let me do a couple of tunes. If you love it, we can move forward.’ As it turned out, they did love it.” Brown’s goals for his remix were quite pure. “I had to give the guys something they would be excited about,” the producer continued, “so I went for a little more detail, different reverbs, and a larger footprint, all while maintaining the integrity of the original record.”

The third and fourth CD present the first-ever complete setlist of the show Rush performed on September 21, 1984, at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, which was also newly mixed from the original multitrack audio masters and has now been retitled Grace Under Pressure Tour: Live in Toronto 1984

The Blu-ray features the above concert on video newly edited & newly remastered in HD with the audio soundtrack offered in 48kHz/24-bit Dolby Atmos, 96kHz/24-bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1, and 96kHz/24-bit PCM stereo options, all newly mixed by Terry Brown. Its previous incarnation as 1986’s Grace Under Pressure Tour concert home video and CD was somewhat incomplete, and this new full concert experience features 37 minutes of unreleased performances.

Also on the Blu-ray, the full 1984 studio album is newly mixed in 48kHz/24-bit Dolby Atmos and 96kHz/24-bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1 by longtime band associate, producer/engineer Richard Chycki, from the original album’s multitracks along with the newly remastered 192kHz/24-bit and 96kHz/24-bit PCM stereo.

Observed Chycki, “Listening to Grace Under Pressure in Atmos, you can really hear Rush’s progress and development as artists, because there’s much more room in the 360-degree soundfield to express it. Things that may have just gone by you in stereo now appear in separate speakers without being gimmicky. Instead, they act as micro-features for the Atmos listener to better appreciate the band’s intent.”

Additionally, on the Blu-ray, Terry Brown’s new album remix is presented in 96kHz/24-bit PCM stereo, along with the band’s music videos for “Distant Early Warning,” “Afterimage,” “The Enemy Within,” and “The Body Electric,” all of which have been visually remastered in HD and presented in 96kHz/24-bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and 48kHz/24-bit PCM stereo. (“The Enemy Within” was the very first music video shown by Canadian TV channel MuchMusic, now known as Fuse, on August 31, 1984.)

Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe Edition will also include new liner notes penned by Geddy Lee, reflecting on his memories of finding a new producer for the album and reminiscing on a recent re-listen of the album proper. Original album designer Hugh Syme re-imagines the original album cover along with creating brand-new illustrations for each of the album’s eight songs and other related visual elements in the book. Exclusive bonus collectibles in the box include a custom acrylic Grace Under Pressure LED light-up display; a replica of the Grace Under Pressure tour book; a replica Maple Leaf Gardens/Toronto show concert ticket; a Grace Under Pressure Tour total access backstage pass; “Pressure Release” a replica of the 6-page press release; three bandmember live photo lithos; and a poster from the Toronto show. All contents are housed in a premium lift-top box.

The second Grace Under Pressure configuration will be released in is a five-LP plus Blu-ray Super Deluxe Edition, which is the analog equivalent of the four-CD edition. The LPs in the Super Deluxe Edition have been cut at Abbey Road Studios and pressed on 180-gram audiophile black vinyl at GZ Media in the Czech Republic.

Both the 4LP + Blu-ray and 5LP + Blu-ray Super Deluxe Editions will also be offered at the Rush Backstage online store with 3 exclusive bonus lithos of Hugh Syme’s new illustrations.

The third Grace Under Pressure configuration will be the Super Deluxe Digital Edition, which is the digital equivalent to the physical Super Deluxe Edition audio tracks.

The fourth configuration, the Dolby Atmos Digital Edition, is the digital equivalent of Richard Chycki’s Atmos mix of all eight tracks from the original 1984 album.

Finally, the fifth configuration is the Grace Under Pressure Tour: Live in Toronto 1984 newly edited, mixed and visually remastered in HD concert video made available to video DSPs.

Al Green Releases Four-Song EP

Eleven-time Grammy Award-winning soul icon and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Al Green has released a new four-song EP called To Love Somebody via Fat Possum Records. Green stamps his signature stylings on the Bee Gees’ 1967 hit “To Love Somebody,” an unreleased, alternate version of his 2023 acclaimed single “Perfect Day,” featuring British singer/songwriter RAYE, The Velvet Underground’s “I Found A Reason,” and his previously released rendition of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” This digital EP is available everywhere.

“When Fat Possum came to my studio and played me ‘To Love Somebody’ and ‘I Found A Reason,’ I felt this instant connection and harmonies immediately filled me,” says Green. “The music spoke to me, so we immediately went to work.”

Produced by Matthew Johnson, Al Green once again went into the studio with the Hi Rhythm Section: Reverend Charles Hodges [organ]; Leroy Hodges [bass]; Archie “Hubbie” Turner [piano]; Will Sexton [guitar]; Steve Potts [drums] - from Booker T & The MG's. among others, and includes string section arrangements from Stax legend Lester Snell, bringing Al Green’s distinctive touch and feel to each song.

Lou Reed once stated: “I wanted to sound like somebody too! Al Green. I just couldn’t do it. I didn’t want to humiliate myself by even trying to do that in public. I wanted to sound like Al.” Now, Al Green lends his trademark soulful phrasing to The Velvet Underground’s ‘I Found A Reason’ and Lou Reed’s ‘Perfect Day,’ which the New York Times described as “a sumptuous reimagining of Lou Reed’s 1972 classic.”

In 2024, Al Green released his rendition of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts”, to which R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe commented, “Speaking on behalf of the entire band — we could not be more honored, more flattered, more humbled...this is an epic moment for us.”

'Frampton Comes Alive!' Celebrates 50th Anniversary With Special Vinylphyle Edition

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Award-winning guitarist Peter Frampton is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his iconic album Frampton Comes Alive! Release in 1976, Frampton Comes Alive! became a cultural phenomenon and remains one of the top-selling live albums, with nearly 20 million copies sold worldwide.

As part of the celebration, Frampton will release a Vinylphyle edition of Frampton Comes Alive! on January 22 via A&M/UMe. The album can now be heard on vinyl again, presented as it was originally intended to sound. The limited Vinylphyle double LP pressing is sourced from the original 1975 Doug Sax 1/4" production master, with lacquers cut by Joe Nino-Hernes, and pressed on 180g black vinyl at RTI. The package features a four-panel insert including a new interview with Frampton and Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop. In addition to the Vinylphyle release, the album is also available to experience in Dolby Atmos, following its 2024 immersive audio debut.

“I can't believe it’s now been 50 years since Frampton Comes Alive! was released, but that record still feels like a living, breathing moment in my life,” says Frampton. “When we decided to do this Vinylphyle edition, it was important to me that it be done the right way. I personally asked that the audio be sourced from the original 1975 Doug Sax production master because I wanted it to sound exactly as we heard it back then. This album was born onstage, and hearing it presented this way on vinyl feels like bringing that energy back to life for longtime fans and new listeners alike.”

First released in January 1976, Frampton Comes Alive! quickly became a defining moment in live rock performance, capturing the energy and charisma that shaped Frampton’s early touring years. As Rolling Stone noted, Frampton “owned the year 1976 like nobody else in rock.” The album spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earned an Album of the Year nomination at the 19th Annual Grammy Awards and has since been certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA. Its explosive reception helped establish Frampton as one of the era’s most commanding live performers. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, the record remains a cultural touchstone frequently cited by outlets including The New York Times, Billboard and Variety as one of the greatest live albums ever recorded.

The legendary musician recently wrapped up his extensive “Let’s Do It Again!” headline tour. Despite announcing a farewell run in 2019 due to a diagnosis of the degenerative disease inclusion-body myositis, Frampton has spent the last few years touring the country over, appearing on stages across America, sitting in with the house band at “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Frampton is one of the most celebrated artists and guitarists in rock history. In 2007, Frampton won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album for Fingerprints and in 2014 was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame. He received the prestigious Les Paul Innovation Award at NAMM’s TEC Awards in 2019 and most recently received the 2024 Les Paul Spirit Award at the Gibson Garage Nashville.

In 2020, Frampton was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, his autobiography, “Do You Feel Like I Do?: A Memoir,” debuted on The New York Times Bestsellers list and he appeared on Dolly Parton’s latest album, Rockstar, as the only artist featured on two tracks.

In 2023, Frampton unveiled Frampton@50 on Intervention Records, a numbered limited-edition vinyl box set featuring Frampton’s essential 1972-1975 studio releases Wind of Change, Frampton’s Camel and Frampton. He also received The Myositis Association’s Heroes in the Fight 2023 Patient Ambassador Award and unveiled his historic performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall as a live album via UMe.

Yes Release Single From Forthcoming 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' Box Set

One of the most ambitious albums in rock history, Yes’ Tales From Topographic Oceans arrives February 6 from Rhino as a Super Deluxe Edition boxed set.

The massive collection spans 12 CDs, 2 LPs, and a Blu-ray and features a newly remastered version of the original double album on both CD and vinyl; rarities; previously unreleased studio and live recordings; and several new mixes by Steven Wilson, including a Dolby Atmos version.

Pre-order Tales From Topographic Oceans

Rhino.com will have an exclusive bundle of Tales From Topographic Oceans (Super Deluxe Edition) with a 12x12 Tales litho numbered and signed by Roger Dean, limited to 500.

The single edit for “The Ancient (Giants Under the Sun)” is out now. Have a listen below.

The origins behind Tales From Topographic Oceans trace back to a footnote in Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi, which inspired Jon Anderson to imagine a four-part musical journey through ancient Hindu scriptures. That concept took shape across four side-long compositions: “The Revealing Science Of God (Dance of the Dawn),” “The Remembering (High the Memory),” “The Ancient (Giants Under the Sun),” and “Ritual (Nous Sommes Du Soleil).”

To capture the album’s structural and spiritual ambition, Anderson (vocals), Steve Howe (guitar), Chris Squire (bass), Rick Wakeman (keyboards), and Alan White (drums) worked with longtime producer Eddy Offord at London’s Morgan Studios, using Britain’s first 24-track console. Released December 7, 1973, Tales From Topographic Oceans topped the U.K. album chart and reached #6 in the U.S., where it earned a Gold certification.

The new Super Deluxe Edition reveals deeper dimensions of the project with previously unreleased in-progress versions of all four album tracks, providing rare insight into the creation of Yes’ most audacious work.

The set’s live material was recorded early in the tour for Tales and includes previously unreleased performances of all four album tracks, along with earlier favorites “And You And I” and “Close To The Edge.” The shows include Zürich (April 21, 1974), Manchester (November 28, 1973), and Cardiff (December 1, 1973).

When the album came out, it took time for some fans and critics to catch up with the band, as writer Syd Schwartz of Jazz & Coffee recalls in the set’s liner notes. “Consensus was never the point,” he says. “Tales From Topographic Oceans will continue to be debated, dismissed, defended, and rediscovered. Its resistance to easy categorization is not a failure — it’s the reason it endures. It’s a vast, unknowable ocean of sound and spirit. And it still hasn’t finished revealing itself.”

Schwartz also notes the album would be a turning point for the band: “Without Tales, there’s no Relayer. No pivot to leaner, sharper structures in the later ’70s. No map gets drawn without first pushing the edges of the known world — and Tales is where Yes did exactly that.”

The band was on top of the charts in the 1970s when Sammy Hagar was vocalist, with tunes like "Rock Candy," "Bad Motor Scooter" and "Rock the Nation."

When St John teamed up with Montrose they continued to entertain until right before his death, filling clubs and festivals around the world. St John wrote many unreleased tunes with Ronnie Montrose, some performed at concerts throughout their years together.

It has been 10 years since the first RMR memorial celebration took place and St John wants this special anniversary edition of the show to be as scintillating as the first. “Ronnie’s contribution to rock music in the early 70’s was the Rock n Roll bible for many of the up and coming great American rock guitarists for the next two decades more than he probably ever realized or gave himself credit for.  I really want to give those who really appreciate Ronnie the chance to get together in a loving dynamic concert setting where we can all really dig in and enjoy each other through the commonality of Ronnie’s music,” St John remarks.
