Whitesnake's 'Slide It In,' 'Whitesnake' & 'Slip Of The Tongue' To Be Reissued On Vinyl

In the mid- to late 1980s, Whitesnake exploded from a popular British hard rock band into a worldwide phenomenon, becoming one of the decade's most successful rock acts. This fall, Craft Recordings revisits that landmark period with vinyl reissues of Slide It In (1984), Whitesnake (1987), and Slip of the Tongue (1989). Powered by hits including “Here I Go Again,” “Is This Love,” “Still of the Night,” and “Fool for Your Loving,” the David Coverdale-led group’s run of multi-platinum albums helped define the sound and spectacle of 80s hard rock.

Arriving September 18, the titles return to vinyl in their original U.S. single LP configurations. Alongside the wide release on standard black vinyl, exclusive color pressings include the self-titled Whitesnake on “Tan Smoke” (via Walmart) and “Stone Marble” (Revolver). Fans can also find Whitesnake on limited-edition “Gold Black Ice,” alongside Slide It In on “Onyx” and Slip of the Tongue on “Crimson Moon,” exclusively via CraftRecordings.com. All three albums are available to pre-order and stream today.

Founded in 1978 by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee David Coverdale, Whitesnake was the next chapter in a career that had already brought him international acclaim as the frontman of Deep Purple. After appearing on the influential Deep Purple albums Burn, Stormbringer, and Come Taste the Band, Coverdale formed Whitesnake to pursue his own songwriting vision. While the band's earliest work was rooted in blues, soul, and classic British rock, later Whitesnake albums paired those influences with bigger hooks, a heavier guitar-driven sound, and arena-rock scale, propelling the band to worldwide success.

That evolution comes into sharp focus with 1984’s Slide It In, the album that pushed Whitesnake’s blues-rock foundation toward a leaner, more radio-ready hard rock sound. Powered by “Love Ain’t No Stranger,” “Slow an’ Easy,” and the swaggering title track, the album retained the grit and swing of the band’s earlier work while pointing clearly toward the bigger hooks and heightened production that would soon define the band’s international breakthrough. It became Whitesnake’s first U.S. Top 40 release and later achieved double-platinum certification in the U.S.

If Slide It In opened the door, 1987’s self-titled Whitesnake kicked it off its hinges. Often referred to simply as 1987, the album transformed the band into international superstars with “Here I Go Again,” “Is This Love,” and “Still of the Night.” A reimagined version of a song first released in 1982, “Here I Go Again” became the band’s signature hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100. The album peaked at No.2 on the Billboard 200, was certified 8x Platinum in the U.S., and yielded the No.2 Hot 100 hit “Is This Love.”

For the MTV generation, Whitesnake’s cinematic videos were central to the band’s rise, giving the songs a visual language as bold and polished as the records themselves. Among the most iconic was the video for “Here I Go Again,” featuring model and actress Tawny Kitaen, whose memorable appearance helped make it one of the defining music videos of the MTV era. Heavy rotation on the network helped introduce the band to millions of new fans worldwide, further elevating Whitesnake’s status as one of hard rock’s defining acts. Decades later, tracks like “Here I Go Again,” “Is This Love,” and “Still of the Night” remain staples of classic rock radio, streaming playlists, and concert stages around the world.

By 1989’s Slip of the Tongue, Whitesnake was firmly established on the world stage. Co-written by Coverdale and Adrian Vandenberg, the album took on a new dimension when Vandenberg was sidelined by a wrist injury and Steve Vai stepped in to record much of the guitar work. Featuring “Fool for Your Loving,” “The Deeper the Love,” and “Now You’re Gone,” Slip of the Tongue reached No.10 in both the U.S. and UK and earned platinum certification in the States.

Together, Slide It In, Whitesnake, and Slip of the Tongue capture a pivotal chapter in rock history, when blues-rock roots, stadium-sized spectacle, MTV-era image-making, and pop crossover instinct converged to create some of the era’s most enduring anthems. Collectively, the albums document David Coverdale’s evolution from respected British rock vocalist to international superstar and remain cornerstones of the hard rock canon.

Deep Purple Share Third Song From Forthcoming Album

Deep Purple have released a third single called “Guilt Trippin’”— just days ahead of the worldwide release of their new studio album SPLAT! out July 3 on earMUSIC. You can watch the video below.

“Guilt Trippin’” begins with a deceptively gentle piano intro and soon bursts into one of SPLAT!’s most unpredictable and exhilarating moments — featuring one of Ian Gillan’s most memorable vocal performances on the album. Behind the music lies another one of SPLAT!’s wonderfully bizarre stories: “Guilt Trippin’” imagines God and Charles Darwin sharing a drink in a pub, reflecting on how things on earth have not exactly worked out according to plan. The accompanying video follows a fly and a sycamore-seed spaceship on a wild ride through the increasingly absurd and dreamlike world of SPLAT!.

“The song starts, and I’m in the studio. I don’t have any words for it yet,” Ian Gillan explains. “So I just start screaming. It was the pure joy of yelling it. I vowed when I was 40 that I’d stop screaming by the time I was 60. Now I’m looking back and thinking, ‘Whatever happened to that?’ So we’ll give it a go.”

Gillan and bandmates Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey, and Simon McBride are currently on a major run of European summer dates before the SPLAT! World Tour heads to North America.

Deep Purple Releases Second Single From Forthcoming Album

Deep Purple have released their new single “Diablo,” the latest taste from SPLAT! — their new studio album, out July 3 on earMUSIC. The new track features a very special guest: Grammy-winning guitarist, singer, and songwriter Keith Urban on second guitar. To hear the song, head over to Diablo link

“Diablo” follows “Arrogant Boy” (the album’s first single) and opens the door to one of DEEP PURPLE’s surreal new story worlds: the most dangerous place on earth, where a heroine crosses a river, jumps into a fighting pit, celebrates with a bucket of wine, falls into the glitter pool and somehow makes it back home with a tale to tell. “Diablo” is a classic DEEP PURPLE rocker — the kind of hard rock track that lives from the riff, the groove, and the band chemistry captured in the studio.

The official music video for “Diablo” is a live performance piece that will premiere via earMUSIC’s YouTube channel on Sunday, June 7 at 2:00 PM ET, 11:00 AM PT. Fans joining the premiere will also be able to chat with Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover.

“It is all about taking chances,” the band's frontman Ian Gillan says of “Diablo.” “Just for once in your life, do something exciting, step out of the mold, take that curious bend in the road instead of sticking to the highway and do something that will, for the rest of your life, either guide or warn you.”

Deep Purple are gearing up for a major run of European summer dates, starting next week in Finland, followed by shows in Norway, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Italy before the SPLAT! World Tour heads to North America. The upcoming touring schedule includes 86 shows across 28 countries. Tickets are available via Deep Purple’s official website.

Get Ready For Global Beatles Day On June 25th

On June, 25th, 1967, The Beatles walked into Studio One at Abbey Road Studios in London and sent a message to the world. Broadcast live as part of the BBC’s "Our World," the first international satellite television broadcast of their song, “All You Need Is Love” reached an estimated 400 million people around the globe. For a few extraordinary minutes, the world was watching together.

Decades later in 2009 lifelong fan Faith Cohen decided this day deserved to be commemorated. From that belief, Global Beatles Day was born. A fan-made, fan-run celebration dedicated to the band, their music, and a message that continues to resonate across generations and around the world: love is all you need.

From tribute concerts in Tokyo to Beatles-themed exhibitions in New York City, singalongs in Buenos Aires, and fan gatherings in Liverpool, Global Beatles Day has continued to grow organically. Its growth has been built on an enduring love for John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and their message, and evolved into an annual event embraced by fans spanning generations and continents.

Now, in a major milestone for the celebration, Apple Corps Ltd, the company founded by The Beatles to manage their creative and business ventures, has formally acknowledged Global Beatles Day.

On June 25th, alongside online and in-person events around the world that celebrate the band, The Beatles will also release a colorized version of their BBC Our World performance of “All You Need Is Love” for free on YouTube. The first time the iconic performance has been made available online, it will celebrate the iconic performance’s anniversary, mark Global Beatles Day, and give fans around the world the chance to relive that spectacular, global moment from 1967 and share their reaction in the live chat.

Writing to Faith Cohen this week, Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene praised the fan-led initiative, writing: “More than ever, the message of The Beatles, and of ‘All You Need Is Love’ speaks to something vital for community, connection, and the power of bringing people together. That is what makes Global Beatles Day so special. It asks nothing more than for people, wherever they are, to stop, listen, and share a little joy.”

Global Beatles Day started as a simple idea that has become a global movement built on joy, togetherness and connection, values that feel increasingly relevant today. And on June 25th, millions of fans worldwide are expected to do exactly what Global Beatles Day encourages: celebrating The Beatles, their music, and a message that continues to resonate across generations and around the world: love is all you need.

Gentle Giant’s 'In A Glass House' Newly Remixed & Remastered Coming July 31st

In a Glass House by Gentle Giant, newly remixed and remastered by Grammy Award-winning producer Eber Pinheiro alongside the band’s own Derek Shulman, will be released July31st. Originally released in 1973, In a Glass House stands as a bold artistic statement that pushed the boundaries of composition, musicianship, and studio experimentation.

With its intricate arrangements, shifting time signatures, and thought-provoking themes, the album remains a cornerstone of progressive rock and one of Gentle Giant’s most celebrated works. The album features some of the band’s most enduring compositions, including “The Runaway,” “Experience,” and the epic closing title track “In a Glass House.”

For the first time ever, In a Glass House has been newly mixed and made available in both 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos, opening up the album’s dense arrangements and intricate performances in an entirely new way.

“When we made In a Glass House, we were pushing ourselves musically and creatively in every direction,” said Derek Shulman. “Hearing the recordings again and being able to remix them with today’s technology has revealed details and textures that were always there but never fully heard. We wanted to present In a Glass House the way we always hoped it could sound, clearer, more dynamic, and true to the original vision. The detail in the performances really comes through in this new mix.”

“The Dolby Atmos and surround mixes really allow the listener to step inside the music,” Shulman added. “It’s incredibly rewarding to hear the album take on a new life while still staying completely true to what we created in 1973.”

For longtime fans and new listeners alike, this new edition of In a Glass House presents the album with greater power, depth, and transparency than ever before, reaffirming its place as one of the defining recordings of the progressive rock era.

The release will be available in multiple formats, including a standard 180g vinyl LP, limited edition clear vinyl, CD, and a deluxe CD/Blu-ray edition featuring stereo, 5.1 surround sound, and Dolby Atmos mixes.

NYC To Co-Name West 8th Avenue 'Jimi Hendrix Way'

On June 10 at 11 AM, New York City will officially co-name West 8th Street Jimi Hendrix Way in honor of in honor of legendary guitarist and cultural icon Jimi Hendrix. The ceremony, rescheduled from February 24 due to inclement weather, will take place at the south east corner of Sixth Avenue and West 8th Street in Greenwich Village, just a block from the historic Electric Lady Studios.

The street co-naming is led by NYC District 2 Council Member Harvey Epstein and spearheaded by Experience Hendrix, L.L.C., the Hendrix family-owned company led by Janie Hendrix, alongside musician and writer Jeff Slate. The event will also serve as the public launch of a new national education partnership with Stevie Van Zandt’s TeachRock, expanding its library of more than 500 free, standards-aligned lessons that use music and popular culture to teach history, social studies, language arts, and other core subjects. The collaboration includes a new multimedia Hendrix curriculum designed for middle and high school students.

“We are proud to honor the legacy of Jimi Hendrix today,” said Council Member Harvey Epstein. “Our district has long been a hub of culture, arts, and activism, and Jimi Hendrix embodied all of those ideals. He was not only a groundbreaking musician, but also a powerful voice for peace, racial equity, and social justice. He revolutionized music in this neighborhood, and it is only fitting that these streets now carry his name.”

“Jimi Hendrix didn’t just play guitar — he reimagined what art could be,” said Stevie Van Zandt. “With TeachRock, we want students to experience that same sense of possibility and discovery that so many of us felt the first time we heard Jimi. His story, lyrics, and sound remind young people that creativity has no limits.”

TeachRock also partnered with NYU’s MusEdLab to create interactive tools that allow students to experiment with the guitar effects and sonic innovations that defined Hendrix’s signature sound.

“This collaboration speaks directly to the heart of our mission, carrying Jimi’s legacy forward through education,” said Janie Hendrix, President and CEO of Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. “His music remains a powerful gateway for young people to connect with history, creativity, and their own potential.”
